What is Slip Disc and Why Does It Cause Leg Pain?

A slip disc happens when the soft cushion between your spine bones bulges out. When this disc presses on a nerve, it causes pain that travels from your lower back to your legs — commonly known as sciatica. Patients often feel sharp pain, tingling, or numbness in one leg.

Most cases improve with rest, medication, physiotherapy, and lifestyle correction. If pain continues beyond 4–6 weeks or daily activities become difficult, minimally invasive or endoscopic spine treatment may be advised to remove the pressure on the nerve. The goal is simple — relieve pain and restore mobility without large cuts or long recovery time.
